December Daily #27

Today was spent celebrating Grammie & Pops 38th wedding anniversary.  We headed to their favorite winery in Amador County for a tasting and fabulous picnic on a gorgeous 65 degree December day.  Not quite the same setting as the actual day of their wedding in freezing, snowy South Dakota.

Thanks Mom & Dad for continuing to show us a great example of love & commitment after all these years.  We are  thankful.

December Daily #22

We loved having the Swishers at our house the past few days!   We are not so secretly trying to lure them to move to California someday. Thankfully our December weather is cooperating with our mission. Today was a gorgeous day for a little nearby hiking...

And balance beam walking...

And dancing...

And playing...

And tonight we moved the party to Grammie & Pops house where the real Christmas magic will happen.
Only three more days!

Tiburon

This gorgeous little place in the world (and luckily in our beloved Marin County) is a town called Tiburon.   Most famous for Sam's Cafe, which if you have never been, you need to go. And make a day of it. Take the ferry from the city and spend a sunny afternoon on the patio sipping something cool and taking in the most beautiful view of the San Francisco Bay.

We had been having the best winter weather lately, so we packed up a picnic lunch and sat on the waterfront lawn that overlooks our city.  We love telling the kids our San Francisco stories.  Lucca loves hearing about being born in the city and living by the baseball park.  And we are happy to tell her as many San Francisco stories as she will sit and listen to.  That city holds a very special piece of our heart.

I sat and ate the rest of my lunch while these guys climbed on the rocks the whole time.  These lucky kids have the best dad.  I wouldn't dare take them on those rocks at the same time :)

And waaaaait for it.  A photo of MOM!!!  Because I took one.  With my iPhone.   With Jackson's hand down my shirt.  Lovely.

The best day

Not gonna lie, we live in a pret-ty spectacular part of the world.

On this winter sunny February day, we went hiking, planted flowers and even started planting my first herb & vegetable garden. Something I've been looking forward to doing for 5 years! Whoop.

Our hike was kid friendly, obviously, as we took the most awesome two year old who hiked all two miles by herself. The girl hasn't sat in a stroller since she was one, so it's no wonder she goes on 2-mile hikes. She was born for adventure, we realized that very early on...

And our big Stone had the best seat in the house on mama's back. That sweet boy loves being outside just as much as his big sis. Many, many more hikes in our future with these nature lovers.

Thanks to my parents help today, I am now a gardener. Okay that title might be a bit ambitious, but I did plant my very first flowers veggies & herbs. SO MUCH FUN going to the nursery and choosing my favorite things to plant. Hello ranunculus & snap dragons! Hello basil & mint! And beets & Brussels sprouts & arugula & cilantro & sugar snap peas & zucchini, and and and!

So excited, can you tell?

I love weekends, I love my family, I love California and I love being 30.

Sometimes being a grown up IS fun.
