West Point Inn

Today was a beauty!  We woke up and headed out early to Mt Tam for a Mother's Day hike with friends.  Our destination was the historic West Point Inn for a pancake breakfast on top of the mountain. The view of San Francisco was stunning! And after hiking a couple miles to reach the pancakes & coffee, breakfast tasted pretty great too.  I appreciate hikes with a prize waiting at the top.  After taking in the view and finishing a second cup of coffee, we made our way back down the mountain.  Pops came along on our adventure, and we are already trying to figure out when we can do this hike again.
Amazing.

Fairway Waterfall

What a beautiful day we had! All it takes is one looong Saturday of rain and pink eye to make us want to bust down the door on a sunny Sunday morning and get out of the house.  We drove out to wine country this morning, our favorite getaway, and even though it's not really very "away" it sure feels like it.  We ate pizza & drank prosecco in the sun as the kids tossed pennies into the fountain at VJB Cellars.  We toasted to an early anniversary celebration and seven years of wedded bliss.

This afternoon we went on the most beautiful hike IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD.  It was magical!  A rope swing and a waterfall might be required on all future hikes because now we are just plain spoiled.

It was gorgeous -- the perfect way to end the weekend.

The best day

Not gonna lie, we live in a pret-ty spectacular part of the world.

On this winter sunny February day, we went hiking, planted flowers and even started planting my first herb & vegetable garden. Something I've been looking forward to doing for 5 years! Whoop.

Our hike was kid friendly, obviously, as we took the most awesome two year old who hiked all two miles by herself. The girl hasn't sat in a stroller since she was one, so it's no wonder she goes on 2-mile hikes. She was born for adventure, we realized that very early on...

And our big Stone had the best seat in the house on mama's back. That sweet boy loves being outside just as much as his big sis. Many, many more hikes in our future with these nature lovers.

Thanks to my parents help today, I am now a gardener. Okay that title might be a bit ambitious, but I did plant my very first flowers veggies & herbs. SO MUCH FUN going to the nursery and choosing my favorite things to plant. Hello ranunculus & snap dragons! Hello basil & mint! And beets & Brussels sprouts & arugula & cilantro & sugar snap peas & zucchini, and and and!

So excited, can you tell?

I love weekends, I love my family, I love California and I love being 30.

Sometimes being a grown up IS fun.
